Why Foster?

It doesn't cost a penny, as the SPCA covers all costs, and even provides the food, leashes, crates, and anything you'll need.

The time commitment is totally under your control.  Typically you'll have dogs for just a few weeks, but you can bring them back if something comes up that prevents you from keeping them (e.g. a business trip).

You have total control over which dogs you foster.  If you only want big dogs, or dogs good with cats, or a particular breed (e.g. Chihuahua), then that's fine.  You'll see a gallery of the dogs available for fostering, and you can pick the one you want.. or choose to wait until a dog you really want comes available.

And the big one, "What if I get attached?"  It is true, you will fall for these guys.  It can't be helped when they're so fantastic.  But after a few weeks, when a family is ready to adopt and take them to their forever home, you'll mostly be happy for them.  It's the beginning of the rest of their lives.  Then you can turn your focus to the next shelter puppy, that you can foster and shower with the love and attention they need and deserve.

Fostering

You can make a real change in a rescue dogs life. Remind them of what a home, and love is.  Often, that makes all the difference in the world.

Right now there is a dog, sitting in the shelter, waiting for someone to bring them home, remind them what family is, and show them what it is to be loved.
